The online revolution has had a huge impact on British Media. Most people now have access to the Internet and use social networking, so they are able to get information about news and events from all over the world pretty much as it’s happening.

Pros of using the Internet over print

  • Companies are able to be more interactive with their customers.
  • You are able to see news a lot faster/sooner than you would in a paper.

Cons of using the Internet over print

  • False information can be posted on the Internet.

Examples Of Online Newspaper/Magazine Websites

First site: Daily Mail

While on the Daily Mail’s website I found this story:

Horror on the Tube as woman commuter is dragged under train at rush hour from ‘overcrowded’ platform ‘after her coat got trapped in carriage doors’

The story is about a lady who got her coat stuck in a trains doors and was dragged across the platform in South London. The article was posted the 12th of March at 10:35 and updated the same day at 18:09. This article, along with all other articles on the Daily Mail allow people to comment on the article, share it on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and a few other sites.

Second site: The Guardian

While on the Guardians site I found this story:

Ferguson police officers were victims of ‘ambush’, St Louis police chief claims

  • Jon Belmar says two officers were lucky to survive attack during protests
  • Police pictured on roof of Ferguson home as part of shooting investigation

The article is above the shooting that happened in Ferguson. The Guardian allows people to create an account on their site so that they can comment on the news articles. Users can also share the post on several social media sites.

Which site I’m looking at…

I have decided that the newspaper/magazine site I am going to view regular will be The Daily Mail. This is because it displays a wide variety of different news stories from both the UK, USA and all over, so I will be able to know what is happening elsewhere in the world rather than just what’s happening in my own country. The articles displayed on the site also come in a wide variety of different topics, for there is bound to be something you find interesting in amongst them.
